The Type A-2 leather flight jacket is one of the most classic and immediately recognizable articles of military clothing ever designed. It is most closely associated with World War II U.S. Army pilots, who often decorated their jackets with squadron patches and elaborate artwork painted on the back.
The Cockpit first introduced this jacket in 1986 for those who want the look of the original, but a lighter weight than leather for all season wear. This jacket has traditional A-2 styling in tightly woven cotton twill, snap close top entry with side entry pockets, epaulets, inside chest pocket, washable leather snap collar and shoulder tabs, knit cuffs and waistband, full front zipper under wind flap, hidden pen pocket, and grommets. The Cockpit I.D. leather bar tab on left chest and a cotton lining offers a detailed silk screened patriotic citation lining.
